A Touch

Sometimes it is just a touch, the simple gesture of one human being making contact with another. Like eyes meeting across a crowded room, the touch of two hands, one needing to help and one needing of help, soothes two souls in need. I was once in a medical crisis and could not express myself to those near me. I was eventually able to get the attention of one of the nurses. It was taking all of my strength to fight for help, then she touched my arm. I surrendered my battle into her hands and faded out of consciousness knowing that some other person would fight my battle for me. There was so much strength and power in her gentle touch. We should never miss a chance to be the one to give a caring touch to another.
